We are as excited as you are to get on the slopes this season. Last year our club was the largest we have had in many years and expect it to be fairly big again. Our coaching staff was excellent and we are planning for another great season of Freestyle Skiiing.
We have been prepping the airbag site for winter by folding up the air bag and doing site cleanup. This is the big red airbag located above and left of the green chair that skiers practice jumps and tricks into before transferring to snow. The big air site directly above the green chair saw a new wooden jump being constructed to replace older jumps. This is where athletes go after the air bag training as they move the jumps and tricks to snow. We also plan a brushing and clean up of the mogul run yet this summer. Last season we held a provincial mogul event that was very successful and we plan to do the same again. Many community and parent volunteers helped the club out with prep work and weekend of event work as well. We appreciated all the spectators who came out to watch an cheer on the skiers on the North side of the Blue Chair. When you see us in our navy blue Castle Freestyle gear, ripping down the hill or pulling off a nice jump give a holler from the chair and let the athletes know you appreciate it! For more information about our club and some great pics visit www.castlefreestyle.ca & follow us on Instagram @castlemountainfreestyle Facebook @castlefreestyle Twitter @castlefreestyl This is where athletes can begin to learn air awareness and learn to flip and spin. Athletes will learn in a safe environment on and off-axis inverts as well as complicated spins. This is the first step to learning inverts on snow and is a training method outlined and required by Freestyle Canada prior to performing the inverts on snow.
Fees will be broken down into per session costs. There are 21 sessions offered, and training times are as follows: Wednesdays 7:00-9:00 pm Fridays 6:30-8:30 pm Program starting October 5, 2022 and ending December 16th, 2022. No class on Friday November 11, Remembrance Day. If interested please email Eric at [email protected] Each session is two hours long and the cost is $25/ session for a maximum of $250 Athletes require a CFSA membership ($105 for the Club Athlete) in addition to club registration in one of the club programs. (This is the same CFSA membership used in the normal ski programs) Sessions are currently offered at Airborne Trampoline & Tumbling Facility 64078 393 Ave E Unit #30, Aldersyde, AB T0L 0A0 in Aldersyde ( between Okotoks and High River ). Castle Mountain Freestyle Ski Club is looking forward to the 2021-2022 Ski Season. Our 2021 training season was very successful in terms of gains for the athletes. Many hours were spent building the mogul course and moving snow to build up the jumps at the air site – you may have noticed the big red bag when it was blown up, which helped to enhance the training of our athletes. Special thanks to those who helped to keep the airbag cleaned off, build the mogul course, jumps and the Resort for the park. The combination of small rails and boxes as well as the larger features was a perfect fit for learning and a place for the athletes to test their skills.
Join Castle Freestyle in one of our four programs – FUNdamentalz, Freestyler, Competitive Freestyle and All Mountain. Registration opens on November 1, 2021. There will be a Christmas Camp December 29th/30th, and Saturday training begins January 8th, 2022. Alberta Freestyle will release the competition schedule in November after their AGM on October 20. Need more information about our programs check us out on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter or www.castlefreestyle.ca Looking forward to another season of sliding rails/boxes, learning how to charge through the moguls and learning tricks with a safe landing on the airbag. Watch for our Castle Mountain Freestyle athletes on the hill wearing their navy blue jackets and snow pants, with the colourful patches. |
