Coaches Wanted!
Are you passionate about freestyle skiing and want to help grow the next generation of Freestyle skiers? Castle Freestyle is looking for Coaches to join our team.
The Castle Mountain Freestyle Ski Club is a dedicated freestyle club comprised of athletes, parents and volunteers who share a passion for skiing and the outdoors. The club focuses on pre- competitive and competitive mogul, slopestyle and all mountain programs, aiming to develop safe, strong, capable and knowledgeable all-round skiers in a fun and supportive environment. Hard work, good coaching, respect and lots of FUN is our formula for success.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Lesson plans and resources in collaboration with the Head Coaches;
• Apply coaching resources from NCCP-Freestyle Canada coaching modules to on snow sessions;
• You will follow the alpine responsibility code, make ethical decisions, adhere to the CMFSC Coaching Code of Conduct,
• Use goal books and FUNdamentalz/Freestylerz Evaluations for goal setting.
• FUN, positive, and provide an exceptional skiing experience to the athletes
• Represent CMFSC positively

 
Qualifications/Skills

• FUN, enthusiastic, professional coach who loves teaching and spending time with young athletes;
• FUN, enthusiastic, professional coach who loves teaching and spending time with young athletes. 
• ​Strong communication and leadership skills;
• A background in Freestyle skiing;
• Must be punctual, organized, and effective with time management.
• NCCP FUNdamentalz or CSIA Level 1 is required. Training can be negotiated. Course should include; CAC Making Headway, Make Ethical Decisions, & CAC Safe Sport Training.
• Current Background Check, required.
• Valid First Aid and CPR, Asset.
• AIR certified through Freestyle Canada and/or CSA Level 1, preferred but not required.
• Availability: Saturday at Castle Mountain (car pool available). Occasional Sundays.
• CMFSC offers competitive day rates based on experience and certification. Conditional season pass is included.

We are as excited as you are to get on the slopes this season. Last year our club was the largest we have had in many years and expect it to be fairly big again. Our coaching staff was excellent and we are planning for another great season of Freestyle Skiiing. 
 
We have been prepping the airbag site for winter by folding up the air bag  and doing site cleanup. This is the big red airbag located above and left of the green chair that skiers practice jumps and tricks into before transferring to snow.
The big air site directly above the green chair saw a new wooden jump being constructed to replace older jumps. This is where athletes go after the air bag training as they move the jumps and tricks to snow.
We also plan a brushing and clean up of the mogul run yet this summer.
 
Last season we held a provincial mogul event that was very successful and we plan to do the same again. Many community and parent volunteers helped the club out with prep work and weekend of event work as well. We appreciated all the spectators who came out to watch an cheer on the skiers on the North side of the Blue Chair.

Castle Mountain Freestyle Ski Club is looking forward to the 2021-2022 Ski Season. Our 2021 training season was very successful in terms of gains for the athletes.  Many hours were spent building the mogul course and moving snow to build up the jumps at the air site – you may have noticed the big red bag when it was blown up, which helped to enhance the training of our athletes.  Special thanks to those who helped to keep the airbag cleaned off, build the mogul course, jumps and the Resort for the park. The combination of small rails and boxes as well as the larger features was a perfect fit for learning and a place for the athletes to test their skills. 
 
Join Castle Freestyle in one of our four programs – FUNdamentalz, Freestyler, Competitive Freestyle and All Mountain.  Registration opens on November 1, 2021. There will be a Christmas Camp December 29th/30th, and Saturday training begins January 8th, 2022. Alberta Freestyle will release the competition schedule in November after their AGM on October 20.
